I am a fourth-year computer science student (minoring in linguistics) at the University of Florida who has both coding and design experience. I am interested in product design, UI/UX design, and product management because I want to combine equitable design with my own personal style; that is, I want to design for accessibility whilst taking inspiration from the modern aesthetic trends.
I am also very passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion and I aim to create inclusive spaces in the places I occupy. From November 2020 - November 2021, I have been lucky to serve as the Kappa Eta chapter of Alpha Phi International Women’s Sorority’s VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. In this position, I lead a team of three directors and two committees in order to create policies and educational tools for our members relating to DEI. For instance, we created a three-hour “retreat” for our members to learn about topics like identity and privilege right before our Formal Recruitment. I hope to combine this passion of mine with my career one day to encourage women and those from marginalized groups in STEM and the tech industry.
When I am not at work, school or working for Alpha Phi, I enjoy practicing yoga (three years of practice in the making!), cooking, exploring local coffee shops, and playing video games.
